Big Brother Updates is the quintessential site for live feed updates, lively but civil discussion, and in and out of house news about everything and everyone Big Brother.The owners and all volunteer staff of live feed updaters & moderators are the most dedicated and insightful fans you'll ever find and after browsing the news articles and forums, you'll agree that there's no reason to go anywhere else for BB info.

And The Worst

This other site and the assholes that own and run it suck so badly that I'm not even going to mention its name. I realized last fall that things had changed drastically for the worse when an administrator that I'd never heard of threatened to ban me for linking to my site in my forum signature.

I found it quite bothersome because I'd been a regular contributor for several years, paid a decent amount of cash for annual subscriptions to keep the site running and get "special" access, and even posted weekly collections of custom-tagged Survivor screencaps for the enjoyment of their readers.

Since I typically capture well over a hundred screens per episode, host them on my own server, and it was a lot of work to double-post ,I tagged the more interesting caps with their site name and, with the site owner's blessing, linked to my site for the entire collection. But as a good community member, I complied.

About a week into this summer's of Big Brother 11, I noticed a sort of soup-Nazi attitude and random censorship from site administrators and moderators which was completely contradictory to the atmosphere that made me want to donate money and time to be a part of their community. The original site owner was nowhere to be found among the member list and when I discovered that any reference to the current site ownership was suspiciously absent I inquired about the heavy-handed moderation, happened to the original owner and who currently owns the site.

I should have expected the condescending "fuck you, if-you-don't-like-it-leave" response but, coming from an administrator, volunteer or otherwise, working for the new "big-media" owner it was totally unacceptable. I immediately stopped visiting and promoting the site and its big-media parent and wrote a detailed letter to the corporate entity that bought it last fall expressing my disdain for their amateur anti-customer site administrators that were more interested in wielding their moderator power than maintaining the community and its long-term members.

No response yet. Go figure.

But none of that matters when Big Brother Updates is on fire with civil and insightful real fans fostering a real sense of community and togetherness.

Kudos to Lexie and many thanks to her entire volunteer staff for taking care of the voyeur in all of us.
